Kai Greaves South West Rocks NSW Death – Kai Greaves has passed away

The South West Rocks community in New South Wales, Australia, is mourning the tragic death of Kaison “Kai” Greaves, a nine-year-old boy who died following a heartbreaking accident during a family holiday.

Kai was visiting the popular coastal holiday town with his family from Queensland when the incident occurred on Easter Sunday afternoon. Reports indicate that he became trapped between rocks near the shoreline while playing at the beach area.

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, firefighters, and surf lifesavers, responded quickly and worked for an extended period in an effort to rescue him. Despite their efforts, Kai was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragedy shocked witnesses and the wider community, with locals describing the desperate rescue attempts as rescuers battled difficult conditions including rising tides and rough waters.

Kai’s family later paid tribute to him, remembering him as a bright, adventurous, and energetic child who loved outdoor activities and brought joy to those around him. His mother described him as a “free spirit” and said he “brought colour” to her life.

His father also described him as “larger than life,” noting his strong personality, humour, and love for his family, especially his role as a big brother.

The incident has been described by authorities as a tragic accident, and an official report was prepared for the coroner. The event occurred during a period of dangerous coastal conditions that saw multiple drowning incidents across the region.

A candlelight vigil was later held in South West Rocks, where hundreds of community members gathered to honour his memory and support his grieving family.
